About Anatomy of Bronze, Part I

Andrew Lacey’s practice breaks the rules of traditional casting methods, showcasing bronze as vibrant contemporary material full of creative potential...

In this breathtaking new project, he uses every aspect of his knowledge and technical veracity to explore the 'anatomy of bronze' from a unique perspective, ultimately creating a series of three bronze sculptures – maquette, exhibition-scale and life-size – through intense observation of every minuscule detail of the equine form.

Lacey's capacity to understand and harness the material power of bronze to the tiniest particle is absolutely integral to the project, as is his ability to engage with new technology.
