Consultation

For many reasons, it is important to take a deeper dive to investigate further into a bronze sculpture in order to understand its place in history. My research incorporates more exotic methodologies such as reconstruction analysis, process simulation, and reverse engineering with the aim of creating models to test alternative hypotheses and investigate areas of intangible knowledge that cannot be understood directly.

Sabines in Flame II

“I have learned more from working with Andrew than I ever could have relying on textual and archival sources alone. His skill as a sculptor, his feeling for his subject matter, and his deep investment in process truly brought Poussin’s studio practice to life.”

Francesca Whitlum-Cooper, Acting Curator of Later Italian, Spanish and 17th-Century French Paintings, The National Gallery.

Tree Bell X-ray

“Andrew Lacey’s sculpture expresses time as well as form. He works with a long reach backwards into prehistory and somehow, through human effort and a certain amount of more-than-human magic, makes the ancient world contemporary...”

Alice Oswald, poet.

Claudel in Flame

“Andrew's experiences as a sculptor and founder together with his curiosity about historic processes have positioned him to be that rare contributor who has elevated our understanding of Renaissance and later bronzes way beyond the theoretical.”

Jane Bassett, Senior Conservator of Decorative Arts, J. Paul Getty Museum, LA
